The Sovereignty of God
As Christians, we believe in a God who is sovereign over all things. This sovereignty is beautifully encapsulated in Proverbs 16:9, which states, “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” The recent attempt on Donald Trump’s life, which narrowly missed him by just a few millimeters, serves as a stark reminder of God’s ultimate control over the events of our lives. Much like the surge in popularity Ronald Reagan experienced after his assassination attempt, Trump has seen a similar boost in the polls following this incident. The stock market and Bitcoin, already optimistic about Trump’s chances, now reflect an almost assured landslide victory for not only the electoral college but the popular vote as well in November.

As Americans, our response to this event should not be one of further division but of unity and love for our neighbors. It is a call to put aside the vitriol, the politics, the anger, and the hate that have come to define our interactions.
